ALCOHOL AND DRUG REHABILITAION TREATMENT CENTRE
The House of Mercy provides intensive residential treatment for all chemically dependent
persons of the age of 18 years or over, giving preference to the most vulnerable and the
poorest people in our communities.
Our guiding ethos is to facilitate the healing of each individual in a holistic manner
focusing on the emotional, psychological and spiritual needs of the client, in addition
to physical healing.
THE TREATMENT INCLUDES:
Initial medical detoxification
A minimum 21 days’ programme for alcohol dependence
A minimum 42 day’ programme for drug addition
Weekly Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, Cocaine Anonymous Meetings
An eight week After-care follow-up programme
EDUCATION:
Our education programme emphasizes the development of the person and aims at improving
the quality of life of the patients in treatment and of their families.

TREATMENT PROGRAMME:
As each person has an individual problem – these needs are taken into account. The 21
and 42 days programme includes:
Medical treatment and vitamin therapy
Individual counselling
Group therapy
Occupational therapy
12-Steps programme
Alcohol and Drug education
Family therapy
Relaxation therapy, Physical exercises
The After-care programme comprises out-patient counseling. While in treatment the
patients are introduced to alcoholics anonymous, narcotics anonymous and alcohol and
drug concerns. They are encouraged to join one of these groups and to attend them
regularly after discharge as a means to maintaining sobriety.
The House of Mercy is situated in Boksburg North and is easily accessible by road. The
centre caters for male and female patients. It provides a peaceful and healing
environment and the atmosphere is quiet and homely. The centre has the capacity to
treat 48 residential clients. Other facilities includes a dining-room, kitchen, a
residential lounge, a chapel, a visitor’s lounge, group therapy rooms, consulting,
occupational therapy department, art room, and gym facilities.

can issue a Section 18(a) receipt for all donations received which are then tax

Donations to our Centre can assist Corporates with their own BBEE accreditation
